I'm a little concerned with what I am reading on the Omnis site about
the Standard Edition capabilities.
I hope someone can shed some light on a few things for me.
I've been using Studio 4x to prototype an application which accesses
multiple remote MySql Databases.
We have been waiting for Studio 5 before we actually purchase the
product knowing that it would be out
soon and that we might have to pay twice if we didn't wait.
The problem is based on what I am reading is that the Standard
Edition does not allow you to access a remote
database. It allows you to access MySql but from what I am reading
it means a local MySql database only. That
seems to mean we would have to purchase the pro version for $2500
instead of the Standard Edition for $250
which we are not budgeted for to say the least. This would also mean
we just wasted months of development
time waiting for Studio 5.
We do not need the Web version for our applications, and it would be
ridiculous if we have to buy the pro version.
Is this right? Am I reading this right?
